The problem is real. 815 million people in the world don’t have enough to eat.

98% of these people living in developing countries, with about 65% living in Asia alone. And unfortunately, things seem to be getting worse rather than better.\

After years of hunger declining, it is again on the rise, according to a recent report from UNICEF that illustrates the problem.

And when you look deeper into the statistics, all of this already bad news sounds even more troubling.

For example, when you look at gender differences in hunger worldwide there is some telling information out there. Women are more likely to be hungry than men.

In fact, 60% of the hungry worldwide are women.

And unfortunately, children are also coming under extreme pressure of this hunger epidemic. About half of the deaths of children who die under 5 years old is attributed to undernutrition.

Without the right nutrition children are left vulnerable, and their lives can be put at risks.

75% of the world’s poorest depend on agriculture to survive.

50% of the hungry are farming families.

30% of people don’t have access to safe water at home.

And the bad news keeps coming.

This is why it is more important than ever for all of us to have the hungry in mind and be taking the steps we can to ensure no person on this planet goes hungry in the future.
